Postcard from Cottage Grove: Antique Plane Fly-In

Fly-in-2013

The Oregon Aviation Historical Society at Jim Wright Field here in Cottage Grove hosts several “Fly-Ins” each year. These Fly-Ins are organized gatherings of planes and pilots from other regions — in this case, the Puget Sound area of Washington. For those of us lucky enough to live close by, it means we get to enjoy seeing the planes fly into Cottage Grove — many of these antique planes circled the city together — as well as view them close up at Jim Wright Field.

Next up is the annual Stearman Fly-In which typically happens the first weekend in August (this year August 3-4, 2013) featuring the planes used to train WWII pilots.

  1. We would love to attend. Where may we get more information?
Is there a fee to see? Children? Adults?
    What about a time frame?
    Is there food vendors?

    • Hi Susie,
For an event schedule for the Oregon Aviation Historical Society check out their Events page: https://oregonaviation.org/events/

The Stearman Fly-In happens the first weekend in August (this year that’s today and tomorrow!). They’ve also started an annual Wings and Wheels, pairing an old car show with old planes every June. Plus other fly-ins happen on occasion.
