2013 Review

This past year I have really enjoyed sharing our explorations around south Lane and north Douglas counties. Thank you to everyone who has participated with this blog, I have loved watching it grow this year. All of your comments have been especially appreciated — I have enjoyed reading all of them!

I often review the blog “stats” so I can get a feel for the type of posts you like. With the end of the year upon us, I thought it would be fun to share the top posts in 2013.

Top 5 visited posts in 2013:

#5. Snow at Mosby Creek Trailhead — The great snow storm of December 2013 is quickly becoming a memory. On a whim we headed out to Mosby Creek Trailhead to enjoy it. I’m glad we did as it was so much fun to see a place that is so familiar covered in a thick blanket of white.

#4. Stand By Me — A great movie filmed, in part, in the Cottage Grove area. It is always fun to watch this movie and see our “back yard” as the back drop. Stand By Me is one of the top searches that brings people to this web site. (Incidentally, the top search is for wigwam burners but since I have several posts on that, none of them reaches the top five.)

#3. The ones we lost: Local covered bridges that are no more — If you read this blog much, you’ll know I’m a big fan of covered bridges. I enjoyed doing this blog post and learning more about the bridges that we no longer have.

#2. Spirit Falls — One of a trio of beautiful waterfalls southeast of Cottage Grove.

#1. Lynx Hollow Park — I loved discovering this park! Even though we’ve been exploring south Lane County for years, we just learned about this park north of Saginaw earlier this year. Based on the comments and traffic this post got, I think the same is true for many others. It is discoveries like this that makes sharing our explorations fun.

As we head into 2104, I am looking forward to sharing more about south Lane county, its history, and our discoveries. Please feel free to leave comments. I enjoy reading them, always respond, and it lets me know what you enjoy reading about.
